Personal History/Backstory
Laerra began her life in the mountains on the edge of Dorne. She grew up outside Skyreach where her father spent days as a guard and nights as a belligerent oaf who would occasionally stop by home to abuse his wife an daughter. An only child she was taught much about herbivore from her mother who was a skilled an knowledgeable healer.
Aside from her mother the only other relative who Laerra cared for was her uncle Darrin who was a world traveling maester. Laerra was mesmerized by the stories he would tell about his journeys. She had decided that she needed to become a maester, and set out to accomplish this no matter the cost.
Laerra set down from the mountains to Oldtown, and dawned the persona of a young lad, Laerec. For a year she was able to fool the tyrants at the maester school until a traveling lord came and discovered her secret. In exchange for her company one night, he kept her identity as a woman hidden, but his informant was not so kind. Soon after Laerra was discovered and forced to flee make into the mountains. Luckily her childhood years in the hills guided her back to Skyreach.
When she returned she discovered her father in a drunken stupor attacked a captain and got himself and her mother exiled. With no where to return to Laerra set off deeper into Dorne to avoid any eyes from Oldtown. Soon her travels landed her at Lakeview Commons where she began her career as an Apothecary and a rebellion against the Citadel of the Maesters.

Current biography
Laerra is living just outside of Lakeview Commons as a well know apothecary for House Sekhmet. She is know for being especially skilled with potions and poisons, which has a negative effect on her name as well. Currently she has more than enough money for herself to get by, but she will need much more if she is to complete her goal of establishing a school for women. She is weary of people who might know of her past as a Maester fraud.

Epilogue
Laerra’s fate had been sealed when she was tricked into spreading the plague of Hissers. Sentenced to five years in the dungeons below the Red Keep and stripped of all her wealth. On the day of her imprisonment Laerra cut her final ties with House Sekhmet and resolved to endure her fate.

Five years passed and Laerra managed to stay alive. Kings Landing did not welcome her back with open arms though. With Elric Magnus gone and the whole of House Sekhmet in financial turmoil she had no one to turn to. She could not even reclaim her respected status of master alchemist. All the knowledge that Laerra had acquired over the years would go to waste.

Three years after her release Laerra’s infamy had died down and she had settled into a somewhat stable life. The best Laerra could do was pass off her knowledge of herbs and medicine to get a job in the kitchen of the Ruby Roast. She was not one to participate in the rough play of the Roast’s patrons, but she was able to tend to their wounds. There was no wealth or glory in what she was doing. Her life now lacked intellectual inspiration, the research and experiments she once conducted were now absent. Only a few of the regulars knew as more than just “some dornish wench.”

Laerra eventually ended up marrying the sous chef at the Ruby roast, Varn Redfort. Together they spent another 30 years. Love was not something Laerra gave or received in abundance, but Varn provided a stable life, even though it was a common one.

Reason for going to King's Landing
Laerra is seeking a supply of the legendary Violet Hornet, a plant know for producing a powerful sedative, which can only be found around King's Landing.
