Personal History/Backstory
Ashter grew up on the outskirts of the Stormlands with his younger brother Larris Varner. Despite only having a two year difference in age, Ashter was always more skilled than Larris in almost every aspect. Unlike Larris, Ashter prefers being skilled in everything and anything. However he has a strong connection with his brother, and after the death of his parents during Robert's Rebellion, his bond with Larris only strengthened. Lacking no physical ability, he's trained in both swordsmanship and marksmanship. He's light on his feet and quick to utilize his surroundings. Much like his brother, he possesses immensely superior eyesight, allowing him to see in the dark and fight in harsh conditions affecting most people's vision. After surpassing his father in long blades swordsmanship and clearly showing dominance with a hunting bow, he has picked up quite the intelligence for healing wounds. He believes in the fact that he's a born leader; he's confident he has the caliber to out-duel anybody. At the age of 15, he ventured into the forests thinking he'd prove to his father he'd teach himself to hunt. Just on the perimeter of the forest, he was attack by a hostile mountain bear, giving him a permanent bear slash scar across his right arm; ever since, he has developed a fear for bears. Despite his physical and mental prowess he has minor flaws in judgement. He has always been a tense individual, not showing weakness or fragility. He lacks the patience for many objectives and sometimes this can compromise his well-being. Larris has always been the patient one, thoroughly thinking out their mercenary work before acting, whereas Ashter was known to get things done. After completing countless number of mission and deeds, he was recruited by Darius, Heir of House Rhyferth, to be leader of the house's scouts. Given his mentality of born leadership he didn't hesitate to take the opportunity. His sole purpose now is to keep him and his brother alive. He is determined to find out who killed his parents and to avenge them using his father's blade. He will never forget that fateful night.

Current biography
Ashter is a six feet, 180 lbs with deep black eyes, and thick dark hair. He is right handed but is quite strong with his left hand. Currently Ashter is a member of House Rhyferth as Head of the Scouts. His second in command is his younger brother Larris Varner. Artemis Rane and Ashter were both hired during the time of Robert's Rebellion. Ashter has taken a liking towards Artemis and looks up to him in terms of demeanor and will. During his off times Ashter enjoys training with Artemis; fighting against his spear has taught Ashter how to close the distance between his opponents. Ashter and Artemis don't talk much but they understand each other, they can be seen together often on their twin coursers. His courser is named Chain.

Epilogue
The day was dim and cold. The snow didn’t ever seem to stop in this place. It been months since Ashter arrived in Castle Black. Not once did he regret his decision to leave Darius. However he never really forgave Artemis in his mind. Every day he repeated to himself Traitor, traitor, you traitor. He laid there in bed sulking his life away. His body felt numb, his face pale as the walls outside. Malady has stricken him last month and it doesn’t seem like he was recovering.

He looked over to see one of the watchman preparing his food and soup. Sam was his name right? Not like it matters anyways, never said a word to the fool

“Here you are Ash, drink up and you’ll get better in no time” Sam placed his food right beside the bed.
He called him Ash ever since they’ve met, Ashter didn’t mind it.

Ashter wondered what Larris was up to these days. Did he stay with House Rhyferth? Maybe taken his position as head scout? Or did he know what his brother would’ve wanted, for him to leave as well to finish their revenge, their promise. He could’ve been dead as well. The thought crushed Ashter.
He got up from the bed and grabbed the bowl of soup. It was dirty, and unappetizing as always. It tasted bland, and dusty. It amazing how a liquid could feel so dry. Ashter coughed, the soup bowling falling to the wooden floor, the soup mixing with the dust and the snow. He looked down at his hand, a shaken mess.

What a waste Ashter thought to himself, not about the soup, but about his life here at Castle Black. He served no purpose. The bowl laid there on the floor as Ashter didn’t bother picking it up. He fell back onto the bed with a hard thud. As his eyes closed, he wished it was the last time they ever will.
